Kay Parker Funeral Home

Kay Parker Schmahl passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. A trustworthy caregiver, Kay loved water skiing and downhill skiing as well as traveling, figure skating, crafts, cooking, and writing – passions she was known to foster.

She made appearances in several classic sex movies, such as Anthony Spinelli’s 1977 Sex World. She was always popular with moviegoers.

1. Visitation

Kay Parker dedicated her life to taking care of those she loved, from homemakers for her children until they reached adulthood and to joining the workforce as a valued employee. Kay found joy in many activities throughout her lifetime – traveling to eleven countries and visiting numerous cities and National Parks while spending quality time with family, especially grandchildren.

Kathleen “Kay” Paddock Parker, born in Austin Texas to Virginia Baker and Harold Joseph Paddock passed into her heavenly home on January 25th 2021. A longtime resident of College Station, where she met and later married Steve Parker for 51 years, Kay loved sports fanaticism and being an Aggie, cherishing family, friends, and her beloved pets. Kay will be greatly missed by all who know her.

At her death, Mary Lou Parker leaves behind her son Preston Parker and daughter-in-law Tomekia; grandchildren Anthony Keith, Destiny Johnson, Melvina Parker, Michael Parker, Charlie Brodhead Jr, Shumekia Weaver as well as Elliana Keith, her great-granddaughter; in addition to other family and friends such as Mary Lou Parker (Mary Lou) Dorothy Parker Rayfield Parker; Dorothy Parker’s sister; Mary Lou and Dorothy Parker and Rayfield Parker as well as many more family and friends who mourn her loss.

She loved entertaining family and friends, becoming famous for her quick wit and love of telling tales. She was the cornerstone of her family and will be greatly missed.

Kay was a highly active member of her church, serving in numerous positions and volunteering at Rideout Hospital. Additionally, Kay served on the board of Golden Spike Minerals rock hounding club as well as actively contributing to Roy 5th ward and life-long membership of Good Sam’s.

2. Service

Kay Parker Schmahl was an exceptional wife, mother, and grandmother who lived her life to its fullest. Known for putting family first and possessing an infectious funny sense of humor that would brighten anyone’s day, Kay will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.

In her final years, she volunteered tirelessly at Rideout Hospital in Olivehurst and took immense satisfaction from it. She managed the Pink Ladies and Gift Shop, as well as serving in other roles within the auxiliary. For all of her hard work and dedication towards helping others, Rideout awarded her with an honorary lifetime service award from them.

Her favorite hobby was spending time with her grandchildren and making them smile, traveling around to national parks around the country, and celebrating each holiday with them.

She was also very involved in her church and community with numerous clubs, associations, and social activities – serving as president and founding member of Golden Spike Minerals rock hounding club; former treasurer of Roy 5th Ward Relief Society and member of Good Sam’s.

Kay was full of life, always eager to try new experiences, from camping and fishing trips, gardening, and creating delicious meals for her family to gardening classes and creating masterpieces in her art studio. Kay will be greatly missed by everyone she knew and loved her.

Kay was an incredible individual with a genuine smile that lit up her entire face. She was courageous and strong, intelligent, passionate, devoted, nurturing, generous, always willing to lend advice or assistance when necessary.

3. Burial

Casket burials are traditional funeral services that involve the interment of the dead at a cemetery as a mark of respect and to mark their passing from our world. Burial can take place with or without grave markers and headstones depending on what’s most fitting for both deceased and family members; often afterward, there will also be memorial services held to remember and celebrate their lives.

Kay Parker was born in Marysville, California, and lived her entire life in Yuba-Sutter County. Married for 33 years to Blaine, together they shared three children. Kay was active in church membership as she held various roles within Roy 5th Ward. Additionally, she held office manager roles for several businesses as well as volunteering with Rideout Hospital as a Pink Ladies or Gift Shop volunteer. Kay loved traveling – visiting 11 countries plus various cities and national parks during her lifetime.

She was an incredible wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Always selfless, she will be greatly missed by her husband Jay as well as their three children, Jeff Jex (Jane), Janis Guyot, and John Schmahl; four grandchildren, Jamison Michael D’Agata, Shannon Parker, Annabelle Austin Schmahl, and Kelcey Abigail Lake as well as one great-grandchild Oaklyn Noelle D’Agata as well as her sister Barbara Polasek.
